By reading the scripture above each day you will read the Old Testament through in one year and the New Testament through twice in a year. This will change your life. Start Today!

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard. Yet now God in his gracious kindness declares us not guilty. He has done this through Christ Jesus, who has freed us by taking away our sins."  (Romans 3:23-24)

TODAY'S WORD
, most of us are familiar with scales-and most of us usually don't like to get on them. If there is ever a problem with stepping on a scale, it's not usually that we weigh too little; it's that we weigh too much. We'll often say, "I think the scale is broken. I can't possibly weigh this much!"

Well, God has His scales too. But He weighs things differently than we do. In this world, if you want to be a heavyweight, you need to be a person who has made your mark. You must accomplish things through power, influence, and wealth. But on God's scales, all of those things that speak of weight on earth speak of nothing in eternity. See you can be a great achiever in the world-a great celebrity or a powerful business man or woman-but when you are placed on God's scales, you may be a fluffy lightweight. God places emphasis on the unseen qualities in life. Who we are on the inside is what counts in the commodity of God. Qualities like holiness, character, and commitment are what tip the scales of God.

All of us step onto the scales of God and are weighed. And as we come and look at God's standards, we immediately realize that we fall short of them. We don't live up to them. We fail. We sin. That is why we need God's help. We try to pull ourselves up. We try to add more weight to our side, but it doesn't help us. The only way to have any substance in life is to realize what God did for us when He sent His own Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross in our place.

A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY

God, as you gave us the sun to lighten our days, so you have given us your Word to lighten our minds and our souls. I pray that you will pour out on me your Spirit as I pray today, that my heart and mind may be opened to your Word, and that I may learn and accept your will for my life.

Shine within my heart, loving God, the pure light of your divine knowledge; open the eyes of my mind and the ears of my heart to receive your Word, this day and always, in Jesus nameAmen.

, my your life be full of His blessings.
