Daily Devotion from Pastor Eric & Rita - Unhindered Prayers

Unhindered Prayers
Today's Devotional Reading: Rom 1-4
November 30, 2010

By reading the scripture above each day you will read the Old Testament through in one year and the New Testament through twice in a year. This will change your life. Start Today!
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"...Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered" (1 Peter 3:7b NLT).

TODAY'S WORD

, did you know that the way you treat people has an impact on the effectiveness of your prayers? The Bible says that the prayer of the righteous person is powerful, but if we aren't treating others with honor, kindness, and respect, then we aren't allowing His righteousness to operate in us. When we don't treat others the way we should, it closes the door to God's power and hinders our prayers.

This is especially true in a marriage relationship. Marriage isn't just an agreement between two people to live life together. Marriage is a God-ordained institution that helps us understand love and unity. It's a picture of how God works in the spiritual realm. When two people are married, they become one physically, spiritually, and emotionally. And, this particular passage is directed toward husbands, but it applies to all believers as well. We should all treat others "with understanding" which means considering the needs of others above our own. We should always aim to treat others with kindness, dignity, and respect and quickly choose forgiveness. The Bible says that the way we treat others is the way we treat God, so choose love and treat others with respect so that your prayers can be powerful and effective the way God promises!

A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY

Father in heaven, I want to live in Your ways. I want to treat others with love and respect which shows that I honor You. Show me how to be a blessing to others and teach me how to make my prayers effective. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

We sure love you!

Daily Devotion from Pastor Eric & Rita - Work Out Your Salvation

Work Out Your Salvation
Today's Devotional Reading: 1 Th. 4,5;  2 Th. 1-3
November 29, 2010

By reading the scripture above each day you will read the Old Testament through in one year and the New Testament through twice in a year. This will change your life. Start Today!
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"...work out your own salvation..." (Philippians 2:12, NKJ).

TODAY'S WORD

, when you make Jesus the Lord of your life, some things will change in you immediately and other things will be worked out over time. You may have addictions or sickness that you are instantly freed from, but yet, you may have wrong attitudes or other areas that are still in the process of changing. That's because God is doing both a work in you and a work with you. I have been a christian for 34 years now and God is still doing a work in me. He reveals His power to us and then gives us the opportunity to work with Him in the process of restoring and renewing our lives. It's not always an easy process, but it well worth it.

You work out your salvation by obeying His Word and surrendering every area of your life to Him. You are working out your salvation when you choose to do the right thing, even when it's difficult and you don't want to. You are working out your salvation when you stand strong and resist temptation. Remember, God is the one at work in you to give you the power to work out your salvation. He's empowered you to overcome every obstacle! As you cultivate what He's deposited within you, you'll experience more of His power so you can live the life of victory He has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for the work You are doing in my life. I choose to work with You so that I can live the life of victory You have prepared. Help me to be an example of Your love and faithfulness. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

We sure love you!

Daily Devotion from Pastor Eric & Rita - A Picture of God

A Picture of God
Today's Devotional Reading: Mt. 28; 1 Th. 1-3
November 28, 2010

By reading the scripture above each day you will read the Old Testament through in one year and the New Testament through twice in a year. This will change your life. Start Today!
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us" (1 John 4:12, NLT).

TODAY'S WORD

, most people have photos in their home of treasured times as a family or with friends. You probably enjoy showing those photos to others and sharing those special moments. But have you ever thought about having a picture of God in your house? It may not be in a frame on the shelf, but this scripture tells us that when we love others we are creating a picture of God. We are showing others what He looks like because God is love.

God wants us to know Him. He wants to reveal Himself in and through us. He wants us to display His love and share it with others. First Corinthians 13 tells us what love looks like-it's patient, kind, gentle, and so much more. You are never more like God than when you are loving others. Love never fails. Always remember, the greatest thing you could ever have or do is love. Everything else will fade away, but His love is a picture that will last forever!

A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY

Father in Heaven, I invite You today to show me Your love which lasts forever. Help me to love others the way You love them so that my life can be a picture of You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

We sure love you!
