TODAY'S SCRIPTURE "He did what was pleasing in the Lord's sight and followed the example of his ancestor David. He did not turn aside from doing what was right" (2 Kings 22:2 NLT.)
TODAY'S WORD , in today's devotional reading we read about Josiah, an eight year old ruler. I can't imagine an eight year old being ruler of anything, but what is more amazing is that scripture says that Josiah did what was pleasing in the sight of God. He also had a good role model, David. He followed David's example of seeking hard after God. In other words, like David, Josiah may not have always gotten it right, but his heart was in the correct place. God is looking for men and women like you who have a heart in the right place. God is touched by our passionate pursuit of Him -- even when we mess it all up. It's easy to let the cares of this world press in -- things to do, people to see, places to go. But God is looking for people who will seek Him. Josiah may have been eight, but he is remembered as a man who got it right -- not bad for a guy who started off so young. Won't you take a few moments on this Sunday morning and spend it with Him. Take some time and read today's devotional reading...it really is a great story. Allow God to speak to you through it, and remember that God really does have a bright future in store for you. A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY Father in heaven, I thank you that you never give up on me. I thank you that even when I mess up, forget about what really is important, you are hard after me. May I be in pursuit of you today, and may your blessings follow me all the days of my life in Jesus' name. Amen. |
