Godly Resolutions CLICK on the Scripture above to link into your daily reading plan.
December 30, 2013
By reading the scripture above each day you will read the Old Testament through in one year and the New Testament through twice in a year. This will change your life. Start Today! |
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE "Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother's way." (Romans 14:13)
TODAY'S WORD , many people make resolutions this time of the year. Right now people are planning their New Year's Resolutions. Some are going to swear off alcohol or smoking or television or overeating. Others are going to try to change wicked habits like gossip or worry or losing their temper. Many people will try to start new habits like getting in shape physically. Health clubs love the first of the year, because people love to commit to going to the gym and working out three to five times a week. But most of those people never follow through, because they were not serious in the first place.
There are different, more important resolutions you want to make for 2014. There are godly habits you want to start and ungodly habits you want to break. It has been said, "A habit is like cable. We weave a thread of it every day until at last we cannot break it." That can be a good or a bad thing depending on your habits. This New Year, make a concerted effort to develop godly habits-habits that cannot be broken and that will build others up in their love for the Lord.
A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY Oh God, who has created all things, seen and unseen, this day is your creation and I give thanks to live in it. I pray that I will not shut you out of the day you have made, blinded by the petty concerns of life, but that I may be always open to your presence. I open my body to you and give thanks for your life that fills and warms every cell of it. I open my eyes and ears to you and give thanks for the light of your Word, without which I would live in the shadow of ignorance. I open my heart to you and give thanks for your love that fills me with compassion, understanding, and peace. I open my soul to you and give thanks for your Spirit, who fills me with wisdom when I take a moment to listen. All that I am, I open to you and I return to you, giving thanks every moment of my life for the blessings that fill this day. Through Christ I pray. Amen |
, my your life be full of His blessings.
