A Place in the Master's Tent

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"O Lord, who may abide in Thy tent? Who may dwell on Thy holy hill?" (Psalm 15:1)

TODAY'S WORD

, the law of hospitality reigned in biblical times. In the tough, sparsely populated desert areas where many people lived, survival often depended on the kindness of others. So if you were too far away from home to return before nightfall, you could find food and shelter at the nearest camp. The leader of the tribe was obligated to provide you with a meal and a place to sleep inside one of the tents, but not necessarily his tent. Only honored guests and close friends were invited to stay in the master's tent.

So the question King David was really asking in Psalm 15:1 was "What does it take to be a friend of the Almighty? Who is worthy to be honored by God?"

The answer follows in verse 2: "He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, and speaks truth in his heart." Is that you? Are you living an uncompromising life of excellence, doing the right thing whether anyone is watching you or not?

Let me encourage you today to be a person of integrity, an honorable man or woman who can always be depended on to do the right thing regardless of the situation. If you will listen to the still, small voice of the Spirit and obey your conscience, you will always be welcome in the Master's tent.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

God, there is no place I would rather be than in the Master's tent with You. I want to do what's right and live a life beyond reproach so you will be proud to have me as Your guest! Forgive me for the times I have fallen short. In Jesus' name, Amen.

We sure love you!
